Mobiroo and M1 have partnered to offer unlimited premium apps for MiBox Internet TV subscribers in Singapore for a fixed monthly fee.

Freemium apps are all the rage, and app developers are actually earning millions in revenue from free apps that ask users to spend incremental amounts on premium items, in-app currency and the like. But apart from paying a dollar apiece on that mobile app or game, there is another alternative: subscription services.

Canadian company Mobiroo offers unlimited app downloads from its library of 750 Android applications all for US$2.49 per month. Considering that most apps cost US$0.99 apiece, with some even selling higher than US$20 just for a single app, the monthly subscription model might be attractive, especially for one wanting to expand his or her collection of apps.

Mobiroo has recently partnered with Celcom, a Malaysian telco, for the distribution of their apps to mobile subscribers. On top of that, Mobiroo has announced a partnership with Singaporean telco M1 for access to its collection of Android apps on M1′s MiBox Internet-enabled TV service.

Access to Mobiroo’s Apps Unlimited service is now available to MiBox subscribers for S$5.35 (US$4.20) monthly. Mobiroo’s subscription service actually includes access to three Android devices in total, and the company will roll out its service to smartphones and Android tablets in Singapore in the months to come.

With this launch, Mobiroo and M1 are offering a two-week free trial, plus an additional seven-day trial that customers can avail through M1′s MiBox. Is a subscription service worth it?

As part of Mobiroo’s expansion in Asia, the company is also making a call for developers to list their apps on Mobiroo’s subscription service, for an opportunity to monetize their apps through Mobiroo’s global network of users.

If you’re the kind who buys at least five premium apps per month, then it might make sense to subscribe. Even if Mobiroo’s library is limited to 750 out of the hundreds of thousands of Android apps, you’re likely to find good-quality apps that are curated by Mobiroo’s team.
